Small groups

The United Methodist Church was founded on the small group. At the local level, Methodist “societies” subdivided into “classes” of 12 or so society members, who met weekly for fellowship and spiritual guidance. Class meetings were intimate meetings where individuals were encouraged to confess their sins to one another and to build each other up. Pierce’s ministries continue in this heritage of the “class.”

We currently have two small-group ministries.

Stitches logo Stitches is a special ministry of knitting and crocheting baby blankets and hats for premature babies, cancer patients, the homeless and children in the community. Three hundred nineteen hats were given away in 2015 to people in our community. Stitches meets every Monday at Jane Barnes' house at 11 a.m.

United Methodist Women

UMW is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The group meets the Tuesday after every third Sunday of the month at 11 a.m.
